Process Engineer - Manchester
Our client is a technology development company that holds proprietary technology developed by the founders at The University of Manchester.
The wealth of industrial biotechnology and process engineering experience in the team, combined with the worldwide industrial and academic network, allows them to develop the lowest cost production processes for a range of lipid products the technology can be applied to.
The process engineer will be primarily responsible for developing process control and scaling.
Scale up design work will be required as well as sourcing suitable facilities and engineering firms for construction of equipment. The process engineer will work closely with the fermentation team and customers, both to collaborate on fermentation development for additional molecules and to scale up the technology.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to join a growing business and focus on developing the biosurfactant sector. The process engineer will be working with industry leaders around the world within a dynamic and friendly working environment. Opportunity to travel across Europe including Netherlands, Germany and potentially Brazil and Japan so candidates with any of these spoken languages would be desirable.
Expertise in scale up of fermentation and separation processes to industrial scale
5+ years' experience as a bioprocess engineer
Knowledge and experience of implementing process control systems
Expertise running bioreactors up to industrial scale
Experience and ability to coordinate a scale up project with a range of industrial and academic partners.
Excellent communication skills for working with customers and the fermentation team
Strong trouble shooting skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Excellent project and team management skills
Willingness to travel internationally for collaborative projects
