This is the opportunity to lead a growing data science function for a market leading eCommerce company. Through your role as Lead Data Scientist you will be responsible for leveraging the businesses vast customer data set to assist with the creation and optimisation of a brand new platform, You will also work collaboratively with the wider data strategy team to execute company wide projects.


A top FTSE 250 listed company, this business has seen growth year on year to become market leaders in their field. Through heavily investing in the use of customer data this company is now looking to utilise its database holding millions of records to push into a new platform, using data-driven insight to ensure success.

As Lead Data Scientist you will be working with multi-dimensional customer data to influence the direction of the new platform and wider business through the creation of actionable insights based on personalisation, optimisation and retention. You will work with the latest Data Science tools to build data products drive personalised analytically driven communications that will enhance customer experience and innovate the way data is used.

  • Responsible for the management and guidance of one direct report
  • Liaise with stakeholders
  • Work closely with other analysts to innovate new solutions and recommend improvements to current data, systems and experimentation
  • Drive the success of the new platform
  • Continue the business aim of driving ROI through customer personalisation and engagement


The successful Lead Data Scientist will

  • Be educated to degree in a numerate discipline
  • Have experience working with vast data sets
  • Have an expert knowledge of open source tools such as R or Python, and have demonstrated examples of building classification models
  • Understand relational databases and SQL
  • Have experience managing analysts and leading projects


  • Salary of £65,00- - £70,000 dependant on experience + generous bonus
